Finally the D-day(doomsday) has come where its score gonna be deciding factor for so many people like me ! CAT--which is almost loved as equal as one's own family member has given most of the people, an unsatisfactory experience.For the first time in its history IIMs have introduced this Online. Most of the CAT aspirants call it The Indianized GMAT or The desi version of GRE because of the glitches n troubles it gave. Its not 1 or 2 but its hundreds of students who are/were disappointed.We can find number of forums that are filled with sad stories of students (which are not stories in fact!!!)
We find a mixed responses from students where most of those are against Online pattern. Few are benefited, yet many are effected!
Some institues have written openly to IIMs about this (http://www.time4education.com/open_letter_IIMs.htm) as they have taken their responsibilty for the students !
Its very much true that during the period of evolution some people get effected ! Its law of nature. Unfortunately here its our turn to be the victims. But we cant stop the development process for which it is our Journey! Ultimately we need to give a new facet to this admission process.
But IIMs should have done this experiment on specimens instead of performing it lively. What I mean is they could have conducted some demo tests. Depending on the demo tests across the contry for a brief period of 3-5months they could have finalized the Online avatar of CAT. Its true that they will have to spend a lot of money even for that. But atleast once they should have to bear these expenses on their own. They could save the students..which inturn..their TIME and MONEY ! Its all the initial cost that is in huge amounts.Any how IIMs can make money as it has no less than 2 Lakhs of CAT takers every year !
Its just an exam for a PROCTOR who conducts the test every day, after all it is his job. But for an MBA aspirant, its LIFE ! Almost 5months-10months-2years-4 years !! The student cant take it as easy as the invigilator say 'Ur slot is not available, better luck next time!' or 'Ur answers are not captured, better luck next time!'
Inpite of these troubles IIMs still repeats same decission about continuing the Online tests in subsequent years too. Hence dont even think that CAT 09 might be cancelled.We are all the victims during this evolution process !

Who could have done well, this year's CAT ??
I can say a PUC passed out or a +2 passed out who is good at maths and above average in English whose basics are at his tongue tips n fingure tips, can easily pass it. It doesnt need hard work rather it needs smart work ! Only smart work. No hasty calculations, no big tables nothing are needed but only Presence of mind. Had it been the same paper when I gave for the first time, I would have secured 2-3 calls for sure !
Yet we cant underestimate IIM..as its always The Protaganist. The cutoffs and negative marks and weightage every thing yet is not disclosed !
Its true that there are so many malpractices in the test areas.Lets hope, IIMs will overcome all these, eventually !! Let us give it our support to be the same Mr. Perfect.
